According to an experiment from Competing For The Future and thought to have been done by George Robert Stephenson, 5 monkeys were locked in a cage. A banana is hung at the top of the cage. The monkeys wanted to eat the banana and immediately climbed to the top of the cage. But every time the banana was taken, the fountain at the top of the cage was soaking all the monkeys with ice-cold pressurized water. The monkeys did not dare to take the banana after a while.
